Derby Cast™ App Guide
Use the Derby Cast app to create a game room, collect every player’s prediction, score each live horse race, and track the race to the Official Finish.
Open the Derby Cast AppGet Ready
Choose one person to serve as the host. The host should keep the Host Control Center open throughout the game. Other players may join from their own phones or tablets.
Two Ways to Use the App
The app gives the host extra controls. Players see a simple screen for entering and updating their predictions.
Game Sequence
Follow these steps for each race. The app keeps every player’s accumulated score and marker position.
The host opens the app and selects Create a game. A room code appears in the Host Control Center.
Each player opens the app, selects Join with room code, enters the room code and a name, then selects Join game.
The host selects the number of horses entered in the race. Set this before collecting predictions because changing the field clears submitted picks.
Each player chooses a horse and predicts Win, Place, or Show, then selects Submit prediction.
After all predictions are submitted, the host selects Lock predictions. No picks can be changed after the race is locked.
Everyone watches the selected race. Wait for the official order of finish and final odds before entering the results.
The host enters the horses finishing first, second, and third. The host also selects the official final odds for each of those three horses.
The host selects Score race. The app awards points, advances the players on the live board, and shows the current leader.
If no one has more than 20 points, the host selects Begin next race. Repeat the prediction and scoring process until a winner is determined.
Select Reset entire game only when your group wants to erase the current room’s scores and begin a completely new game.
Automatic Point Tracking
The app compares each prediction with the official finish and applies the point value associated with the horse’s final odds.
A player scores only when the selected horse satisfies the prediction.
The selected horse must finish first. The app awards the first-place point value.
The selected horse may finish first or second. The app awards the second-place point value.
The selected horse may finish first, second, or third. The app awards the third-place point value.
The first player whose accumulated score is greater than 20 points wins. Reaching exactly 20 points is not enough; the player must advance beyond 20.
Keep the Game Moving
The host controls the room and moves every race through the open, locked, and scored stages.
Changing the number of horses after predictions are submitted clears those predictions.
Do not enter morning-line odds. Wait for the official final odds shown after the race.
Distinct names make it easier to identify each player on the game-room list and live board.
The host can see how many predictions have been submitted and locks the race only after all are ready.
Derby Cast does not accept wagers, process bets, or award gambling prizes.
